Ms. Lyndi Grebe
Nursery C Teacher / Primary (Team Leader)
Degree in Education:
Post Graduate Degree in Education: Special Needs Education, Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), South Africa
Bachelor’s Degree :
Bachelor of Science: Education, Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), South Africa

I continue to thank our D-PREP parents for their continuous support and for allowing their children to study here and to share their happiness here. Happiness that I’m sure starts at home.”

Our Nursery Teacher Ms. Lyndi Grebe has been with us since February of 2016. She is currently our N2 Teacher and also the longest-serving homeroom teacher at D-PREP. Starting as a substitute homeroom teacher and also as a Weekend School teacher, Ms. Lyndi was indeed a perfect match to our teaching and learning style, so she was then offered a full-time position in August of 2016.

Being in D-PREP for more than 5 years, she has indeed experienced the evolution of our school and was part of that growth from what it was – a humble yet very innovative school inside Megabangna; and to what it is now – a growing Experiential Learning school with two additional campuses.

Upon graduating as an Early Years teacher in South Africa, she continued studying and took her Post Graduate Degree while working as a part-time teacher. She worked in a small private school in South Africa and after a couple of years, decided to travel abroad. She began her journey in April 2012, and her first destination was Thailand.

Similar to many experiences of visitors here in Thailand, she fell in love with the people and the country. While working and traveling, she also dipped her toes in a corporate job and taught business English for 3 years. That corporate job is where she also met her Thai husband.

While working in a company, there was always that yearning in her heart to want to continue to work as an early years teacher. Upon finding D-PREP, she believed that Ms. Lady has always been a forward-thinker in education and loves what she wants to achieve. And like Ms. Lady, she believes that what we are doing here at D-PREP is the future of education.

Ms. Lyndi aims to keep guiding her nursery students to experience more “Aha!” moments that will help develop their desire for learning. She believes that the more happiness students find in learning, the greater their curiosity will become and the bigger the risks they will take. “Greater happiness is what leads to greater success.” ~ Jeff Olson.

1. Why did you choose to become a teacher?

“I’m the first teacher in my family. I think it all started when I took a career test when I was in high school. I took some personality tests and career tests that then suggested what career path I could follow and one of those results was being a teacher. So basically it was one of the best matches for me. I guess I can say that it wasn’t really my first love, but I wanted to give it a try. When I graduated though, and started teaching, I fell in love with it. I really love what I do, and well, here I am now; an early years teacher.”

2. Why teach in Early Years?

“Even after graduating as an early years teacher; I did start with teaching high school and even adults. Having now taught from early years to adults, I think being an early years teacher is just the best feeling in the world.”

“When kids come to school and they are really happy to be here, and love to be here, and you can just see the joy in their eyes. There’s that moment… where you see something just clicks. It’s like, when you’re doing an activity with them and you just see their face light up and you see them experience that ‘AHA!’ moment. You can clearly see that ‘realization’ on their face and they go ‘OOH!’. That’s the best feeling for me as a teacher.”

“My students, even at a young age, have so many things that they teach me, too. We experience lessons with them that also somehow reminds us of the simple things that we tend to forget.”

3. What do you love most about being a teacher and teaching here at D-PREP?

“What I love the most about teaching are the kids. Even at age 2, just their personalities and ways of thinking, and how they develop that by comparing it from the beginning of the school year until the end of the school year; it’s just this huge growth.”

“It’s amazing to see how they go from coming in during the first day of school, crying; to absolutely becoming responsible little human beings.”

“What I love most about D-PREP is our student-centered approach to learning and how open-ended our lessons can be for the children – where we are focusing not only on their growth, but also in their interests.”

4.What do you love most about Thailand?

“I just love the friendliness of Thai people and how they are really easy to get along with. Apart from it being a very beautiful country, it’s also very safe, compared to South Africa. But pretty much, it’s the people.”

5.What do you do during your free time?

“Sometimes I do help my husband with his jewelry business, but right now I do love going fishing. I love reading, painting, and arts and crafts at home. But we do a lot of fishing. It’s actually weird, because I don’t eat any seafood.”

“I also do enjoy the beach, if and when we are able to go and visit.”

6. Is there anything you want to say to our D-PREP Community?

“I just want everyone to be happy.”

“My whole teaching philosophy is that as long as the kids are happy, especially in school, learning will come so easily. If they are happy in their environment, happy to explore, happy with their classmates, and happy with everything; it feels so easy for them to learn. I continue to thank the parents for their continuous support and for allowing their children to join D-PREP and to share their happiness here. Happiness that I’m sure starts at home.”
