Wai Kru: Honoring the Teachers of D-PREP

Wai Kru Ceremony for the 2022-2023 School Year

Event: Wai Kru Ceremony
Date: August 5, 2022

Children’s brains are like sponges. They take in everything around them faster than they would when their brains have fully matured. A single experience, whether good or bad, dramatically impacts their adulthood. This is precisely why it’s essential to choose a child’s environment during their early years carefully. Aside from their parents and relatives, one of the most influential people in a child’s life is their teachers. Teachers take on the responsibility of holistically educating students and ensuring they are positive role models.

D-PREP Students at Wai Kru 2022

Teaching is no easy job, and it is a service that requires competence, compassion, humility, and integrity. Every year, D-PREP International School recognizes and celebrates its teachers from all grade levels. In line with the Thai celebration of teachers, we held the “Wai Kru” Ceremony last August 5 to show our gratitude and honor toward our educators.

The Wai Kru Ceremony was held in the morning, starting at 8:20 am at the hall located in the Dream Building. Students from each class honored the teachers by bringing yellow trays with flowers and bowing at their feet. As a health precaution, the classes were assigned different time slots to provide more space for social distancing. Students and teachers from Grade 5-8 were scheduled to attend the ceremony at 8:20-9:00 am, while Nursery to Kindergarten 2 students attended theirs at 9:40-10:20 am. Grade 1-4 students, on the other hand, celebrated Wai Kru at 10:20-11:00 am.

D-PREP’s Wai Kru Celebration was simple and heartfelt. We want to thank the teachers for dedicating their time, talents, and treasures to shape our future leaders’ minds positively. Cheers to an academic year full of learning and growth.
