Learning isn’t just for students. Teachers also have to constantly learn to deliver effective education. In line with this need for continuous professional development, D-PREP International School held a whole day of training for the teachers and staff’s Professional Development (PD) last Monday, September 12.
The morning consisted of the Jolly Phonics and Grammar training session led by Ms. Morgan and Ms. Kimberly. It was open for the school’s Teachers and Teaching Assistants (TA), where they talked about how they could apply Jolly Phonics and Grammar to the English Language (ELA) curriculum.
The session was then followed by an activity led by Ms. Malia in D-PREP’s Lightroom, where teachers learned about the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. The Reggio Emilia approach focuses on the child’s ability to learn a hundred languages. The teacher acts as a facilitator and sets up centers for children to explore and enhance their creativity. The Reggio Emilia training also welcomed teachers from D-PREP’s sister school, the American School of Bangkok (ASB).
For the afternoon session, the Head of Teaching and Learning, Ms. Maricar, held a teachers’ training on grading and assessment. They discussed the school’s different grading systems and the standard rubrics. The activity aimed to refresh the teachers’ knowledge and update them on D-PREP’s new grading system.
The education landscape constantly changes, and new teaching techniques are discovered daily. At D-PREP, we deeply care for our teachers and staff. We ensure that they’re well supported and equipped with professional training so they can provide the best education possible for our students.
