A mother is often the first role model of a child and the person children will emulate as they learn more about life and how to conduct themselves in society. As one can expect, this is a significant role since mothers heavily influence a child’s self-identity growing up. Being a mother is a full-time job, too. Day and night, a child is the parent’s responsibility, and mothers take on this role unconditionally.
In Thailand, mothers are honored and celebrated every August 12, which is also the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. As part of D-PREP International School’s values, we show respect to mothers through a mother’s day ceremony, which was held last August 11. Each class celebrated mother’s day inside their classrooms in line with social distancing protocols.Â
The event opened with a warm welcome speech from the homeroom teacher, followed by a video presentation of students with their mothers. Next, the homeroom teachers chose special activities that suited their students and the parents. It was then followed by the main event, which is the traditional Thai way of honoring mothers. The students lined up on the floor in front of their parents to do the Thai “Wai” and give them flowers or cards. The celebration ended with the parents and students getting their photos taken to remember the special day.Â
We want to thank the mothers for their continuous and selfless support of their kids’ education. We wish you all good health and a prosperous year.
